Ylia Series (Ytterbium Professional lasers for Industrial Applications) is the new name of fiber lasers offered by Quantel.

Ylia M20, 20W pulsed fiber laser, and Ylia RT30, pulsed rod-type fiber laser, are designed for OEM applications in the field of marking, professional engraving and micro machining.

Delivering up to 20W average power, Ylia M20 is designed for rapid marking and engraving on a wide range of materials such as stainless steel, aluminum, silicium and a lot of polymers in the packaging and electronics industries.
Recent improvements to optical and electronics design of the QFL20 means better unit-to-unit reproducibility and higher reliability. Ylia M20 produces high peak power pulses, with a special feature: pulse duration slowly decreases in accordance with increasing repetition rates. Peak power is consequently kept high up to 100 kHz, which shortens job-cycle times. Furthermore, optical design of this laser allows raster mode marking for the creation of high speed images and graphics. Other benefits of pulsed fiber laser technology include long diode lifetimes and maintenance-free performance. Thanks to a smaller ruggedized package, reduced laser on/off times (120µs), Ylia M20 is positioned as the reliable alternative for OEM marking companies. It is also proposed in a 10W version.

Ylia RT30, co-developed by Quantel and Eolite (www.eolite.com), is based on a new patented hollow fiber oscillator, which combines the advantages of bulk solid-state lasers and traditional double clad fiber lasers. This laser, available in 2008, targets industrial applications such as deep engraving and fine cutting and drilling. Its high intensity polarized beam is also suitable for non linear optics, especially OPO pumping and green and UV generation.
