LIGNUM-HX industrial metal detector guarantees trouble-free long-term operation under the harshest conditions.

At the International Wood Fair in Klagenfurt (28 to 31 August 2008), stand F16 in hall 3, S+S is launching the LICON-HX metal detection system for the protection of gate professional saws, log milling centres, cut-off saws, and other wood processing machines and elimination of expensive damage.

The LICON-HX metal detection system comprises the LIGNUM-HX tunnel metal detector and a heavy-duty conveying belt. Both components are specifically designed and developed for the rigorous needs of the sawmill industry and combine to form a cost effective system solution for the detection of metal inclusions in logs (nails, cramps, projectiles, shell splinters, etc). The system not only detects ferrous objects but also inclusions of any other kinds of metals (eg special steels, copper, lead). LICON-HX thus provides optimal protection for log milling machines, cut-off and gate saws, preventing expensive repair work, retooling and unscheduled down times in the sawmill, and the resulting consequences.

LICON-HX is integrated into the conveying line between the log feeder and the saw. When metal is detected in the log, a time-controlled pulse is provided to activate either a separating unit or a cut-off saw. Alternatively the conveyor supplier can be stopped for manual removal, for which signalling devices or marking units are available as options. Wooden impact protection can optionally be installed within the detection coil.

Incorporating the latest S+S "RZ technology" means that only an extremely small metal-free zone is required for the installation of the metal search coil.
