CoroDrill Delta - Secure drilling performance in Heat Resistant Super Alloys
Sandvik Coromant has developed a new professional drill, CoroDrill Delta-C R846, for Heat Resistant Super Alloy machining in aerospace applications, such as the production of gas turbine casings. The new drill is designed for the continuous and reliable production of holes in demanding HRSA materials, which place heavy demands on the cutting edge.
The geometry of the new CoroDrill Delta-C is optimised for maximum efficiency in repeat short hole drilling. The new cutting edge has a more consistent curve for added strength in the outer corners where cutting forces can be highest in demanding applications. This distributes the cutting forces evenly over the cutting edge – giving an even wear without sudden changes.
Cutting action is improved, giving a secure, longer tool life for reliability from the first to the last hole on expensive components.
The deep flute shape on the drill body optimises chip removal from the cutting zone, keeping the drill free from obstructions that could damage the integrity of the component surface. The result is a more continuous, precise cutting action that can be repeated with the same close tolerances, hole after hole.
The standard CoroDrill Delta-C family has tools for 3 – 12mm diameter, with a length of 3 – 5 x diameter.
