For universal use in the widest range of applications Schroff has developed the new maxpower MAX180 family of 19" PSUs with a rated output capacity of 180 W. The new PSU family replaces the ecopower SEG single switched-mode AC/DC range. Retaining full compatibility, the output rating has been increased from 130 W to 180 W. At the same time the size of the unit has been reduced by a third. Despite a substantially higher output capacity the new 19" PSU is highly compact at 3 U, 8 HP and
a depth of 160 mm.
Increasing the efficiency of the unit from 83 % to 88 % has allowed a significant increase in power density. The input voltage range of the maxpower MAX180 family is 90 VAC to 254 VAC, making the devices useable worldwide. The output voltages of 5 V, 12 V, 15 V or 24 V are covered by four models. New technology has reduced power loss and thus the device produces less heat. It is now designed for convection cooling in an ambient temperature range of -25 °C to +50 °C. It can also be used at up to 70 °C at reduced load.
When multiple PSUs are parallel connected for redundancy operation (n+1) the current-share bus assures uniform current sharing between the individual devices. The PSUs also features integrated output decoupling. Operating status is indicated via a front-mounted LED and an "output OK" signal on the connector.
