SEL Motor Protection Relays – UL Class 1 Division 2 Certified

Many motor protection applications are in or around materials defined as hazardous by the National Electric Code. Oil refineries, pulp mills, and chemical processing facilities typically have areas with hazardous classifications that will benefit from the SEL-749M or the SEL-710 UL approval. International approval has also been granted by “Atmosphères Explosibles” (ATEX) certification.

Class 1 Division 2 hazardous locations are generally areas that contain flammable professional gases, vapors, or liquids, normally confined within closed industrial containers. These areas are adjacent to Class 1 Division 1 locations that also contain these gases, vapors, or liquids. The UL approval of the SEL-749M and the SEL-710 allows installation of these relays much closer to the process motors within these hazardous areas without special enclosures or ventilating systems.

Installing protection close to the motor keeps the motor feed wiring shorter, lowering the cost of installation and reducing losses in wiring
Choose either the advanced protection of the SEL-710 or the economical features offered in the SEL-749M with Class 1 Division 2 certification at no additional charge.
