Centralized lubrication for do-it-yourself retrofitting SKF Lubrication Systems Germany AG

SKF offers lubricating aids for cost-effective do-it-yourself installation

Reliable grease supply to connected lubrication points

Applications on numerous devices, steering systems, lifting cylinders, tractor axles, etc.

All the lubrication points on farm machinery, attachments, and accessories have to be lubricated on a regular basis - that is, if you follow the manufacturers' maintenance instructions. Unfortunately, actual practice is often different. Many lubricant nipples are in difficult-to-reach locations or are simply unrecognizable due to heavy contamination. As a result, they are simply forgotten - intentionally or otherwise. Due to a lack of time or simple laziness, others remain unlubricated for far too long. To "balance" this out, too much lubricant is pumped in at the next lubrication.

Bearings and lubrication points treated this way are sure candidates for premature failure. Added to this is the unnecessary increase in grease consumption and in environmental pollution.

These days, automatic centralized lubrication systems are often responsible for reliably supplying almost all lubrication points, especially on large and complex harvesters. Not all machines are equipped with these systems though, such as small machines or attachments that may not seem "worth the effort for a few lubricant nipples." But even a few lubrication points can cause trouble and unnecessary costs when they break. When machinery and equipment are seeing their seasonal usage, only one thing counts: fail-free operation!

To achieve this, SKF offers manual lubricating aids as kits for retrofitting for 2 to 22 lubrication points. All lubrication points to be supplied are connected to a central metering distributor by lines. This leaves just one central nipple to be lubricated instead of the many lubricant nipples, some of which may be hidden. In the simplest case, grease is supplied via a portable grease gun. The metering distributor then divides the pumped quantity to the lubrication points in equal proportions.

Examples of successful applications include the moving front axles on tractors, towed equipment such as harrows, swathers, balers, etc. to truck fifth wheels or axles on various trailers.

The lubricating aid can also be used on large machinery with more than 22 lubrication points. This involves consolidating associated lubrication points ("axle and steering," "cutterbar," etc.) into zones, each with their own metering distributor and lubricant nipple.

An optional bracket can be used to securely mount the grease gun on the machine. This offers the advantage that it can also be lubricated in the interim away from the workshop. Also, the risk of contamination entering the system when attaching the grease gun is eliminated because the grease gun and metering distributor are firmly connected together. The gun can be (re)filled cleanly using off-the-shelf standard cartridges from SKF or other providers.

The fleet of devices is lubricated manually using a lubricating aid - simply, cleanly, and quickly without a pit or jack. No lubrication point is overlooked.

Not to mention the improved occupational safety: many conventional lubrication points are difficult to reach and the risk of accidents while lubricating is often high. The SKF lubricating aid with just one easily accessible central lubricant nipple helps out here.

Easy to install and expandable in a modular component system

Do-it-yourself installation is easy thanks to the prefabricated universal kit.

Installation can be performed in-house; no specialist workshop is required. Plug connectors make it easy to connect the lines to the lubrication points.

The lubricating aid can even be expanded into a fully automatic centralized lubrication system anytime by attaching a compact centralized lubrication unit.
