New SC-70, the latest of the “heavy duty” crawler cranes. SOILMEC S.P.A.

Starting from two basic needs: the use of the machine either in lifting configuration or equipped with hydraulic and cable grabs; the SC-70 is a real multifunctional crane designed with a few target arrangements aimed at increasing quality and performance. Regarding performance, the maximum lifting capacity is 70 tons with a working radius of 3.5m, and the boom length can reach up to 51m. The Diesel engine is a Caterpillar C15 with a maximum rated power of 420kW and the hoisting force (240kN) is greater than those of the main competitors’ cranes.
The crane endowed with an electro-hydraulic proportional control system provides accurate and simultaneous movements. These features are combined with the opportunity to integrate the machine with the other Soilmec equipment present on the job site through the DMS system. It monitors in real time both the state of the rig and the principal parameters of the performed technology, furnishing the possibility to quickly deliver the relative reports of production to the Client.
To respect the 3 meters wide transport restrictions the crawler frames are retractable and the self-mounting counterweight cylinder frame has been modified to keep the transport weight less than 50t. Finally, as an optional, the possibility to remove the tracks brings the cranes weight to only 35t.
Another advantage is the new Soilmec cab. The wide cab offers outstanding operator comfort and convenience. The large seat and the joystick consoles are adjustable. The new large size DMS monitor ensures complete operational control. The whole working area is under surveillance with the new high resolution 7” LCD monitor for four different cameras.
Finally, we have to highlight the different possible operating conﬁgurations (crane, hydraulic grab, cable grab, hydraulic rotary, etc.), which allow the SC-70 to be suitable for a large range of job sites.
