Range of mobile metal analyzer products now includes a handheld XRF and two OES spectrometers

SPECTRO Analytical Instruments now offers a complete line of mobile and portable metal analyzers; addressing all applications for onsite metal analysis. The product line encompasses the new SPECTRO xSORT handheld XRF spectrometer, the SPECTRO iSORT portable OES spectrometer and the SPECTROTEST mobile OES spectrometer. The All-Rounder: SPECTRO xSORT

The SPECTRO xSORT, introduced in September 2008, is a portable X-ray fluorescence instrument for onsite metal analysis. The 1.7 kilogram (3.7 lbs) light instrument is especially suited to the analysis and sorting of high alloy metals. With its high resolution silicon drift detector, it is up to ten times faster than conventional handheld XRF instruments and determines all of the elements in an alloy in only two seconds. Because the analyses are non-destructive and without sparks, it is also possible to utilize the instrument in areas that are inaccessible to OES spectrometers, e.g., final QC control in the automotive industry, plant infrastructure PMI in explosion protected areas, as well as for precious metals analysis.


The Specialist: SPECTRO iSORT

The SPECTRO iSORT is a flexible handheld OES spectrometer that is very convincing for grade identification and batch sorting; simultaneously mastering difficult applications such as the determination of the carbon content in low alloy steels. Unlike the larger SPECTROTEST, the iSORT is also able to work in narrow areas, on scaffolding and in difficult to reach terrain.


The Standard: SPECTROTEST

The SPECTROTEST is a high performance mobile OES spectrometer that can manage almost any task in the metal producing and metal processing industries in regards to measuring accuracy and measuring speed. It analyzes iron, nickel, copper, aluminum, magnesium, titanium, cobalt, lead, tin and zinc based alloys – at the same time, supporting a number of demanding applications, such as the measurement of carbon with arc excitation or the control of duplex steels using the nitrogen content and spark excitation.
