With the ProVicom MT-916-iX104C3 professional tablet pc, R. STAHL INDUSTRIAL HMI Systems has launched a new, portable control panel for use in zone 2 hazardous areas. The robust system achieves protection class IP65 and complies with MIL-STD 810F. The 40 GB hard disk is installed shock-proof, making data safe even if the device is roughly handled. The 10.4 inch TFT screen has a resolution of 1024 x 768 pixels. Alternatively, the MT-916 is also available with an AIIVue display that guarantees excellent legibility even in bright sunlight. Another alternative or add-on is the touch screen specifications version. The tablet PC is operated with a pen (WACOM Digitizer), and the touch screen can also be operated with fingers. The Windows XP Tablet PC Edition operating system guarantees excellent usability and handwriting recognition. With an Intel Pentium M 1.2 GHz processor, 256 MP RAM and a 2 MB L2 cache, this tablet PC has solid performance reserves for typical HMI applications. Interface design includes a type I/II PCMCIA V3.0 slot, two USB connections, and a Gigabit-compliant Ethernet port. A WLAN module permits wireless communication according to IEEE 802.11 a/b/g. The HMI system also provides a fingerprint sensor and a professional microphone and headphone connection. The professional battery charge is sufficient for about three and a half hours operating time. With its weight of 2.5 kg, A4 size and about 4 cm thickness the MT-916 can be easily carried along on maintenance work across large plants.
