EtherCAT Starter Kit for iPOS360x VX Intelligent Servo Drives Technosoft
The new iPOS family of Technosoft intelligent servo drives is based on a new design concept offering a very compact and cost effective solution for the control of rotary and linear brushless, DC brushed and step motors. The new iPOS drives can be delivered either as open frame plug-in modules with vertical (VX models) or horizontal (MX models) mounting on the user main board, or as a closed fame box equipped with retractable connectors (BX models). Thanks to a modular concept, the open frame iPOS drives may be accompanied by several plug-in extensions like the EtherCAT communication module or the feedback extension module for absolute position sensors.
The EtherCAT Starter Kit provides a ready-to-run solution for testing an iPOS3602 VX or iPOS3604 VX drive using the EtherCAT communication. The EtherCAT Starter Kit includes an I/O board where both a drive and the EtherCAT extension module can be plugged-in, and optionally, a brushless or step motor. The I/O board offers easy access to all the drive I/O signals via standard connectors.
Based on the Technosoft MotionChip™ technology, the iPOS drives combines single-axis motion controller, drive and PLC functionalities into a single compact unit. They can operate as a standard EtherCAT slave supporting CANopen over EtherCAT (CoE) protocol, or as a standard CANopen drive conforming to CiA 402 without the EtherCAT extension module, or can be programmed to execute complex motion programs directly at drive level, using the built-in motion controller and the high level Technosoft Motion Language (TML). Programming in TML is quite easy thanks to EasyMotion Studio platform, which generates all the TML instructions from user-friendly dialogues. Hence, there is no need to learn or write any TML code. TML programming enables the user to reduce both the development time of complex applications and the master’s task by calling complex motion functions, pre-stored in the drive memory, or by triggering their execution via I/O signals.
The iPOS360x VX drives operate with 9-36 VDC power supply and 7-36 VDC logic supply, providing 4 A continuous and 10 A peak (3604), 2 A continuous and 3.2 A peak (3602). All iPOS drives accept digital and linear Halls, sine/cosine and incremental encoders as standard feedback devices. SSI, BiSS, EnDAT encoders and resolvers may also be used by adding a plug-in feedback extension module. The 2 or 3-phase step motors can be controlled in open-loop with up to 256 μsteps/step or in closed-loop.
