Toshiba Challenges Industrial Designers to Show Their Vision for HDD Technology

Toshiba Europe Storage Device Division today challenged industrial system designers to become visionaries for the industry as it launched a design challenge for industrial applications. The challenge forms an important part of its ongoing activity to promote the benefits of professional hard disk drive technology for implementation in industrial scenarios such as PROFESSIONAL CCTV, automated manufacturing, retails POS machines and aerospace equipment.

As part of its recently launched online game ‘Get The Disk’ industrial designers have the chance to submit designs and ideas which demonstrate their vision of how HDD technology can benefit future designs and products. By entering the password ‘GoHDD’ at specific point in the game, they access a private section of the game where they can submit their thoughts or upload actual blueprint designs. A panel of judges will select one winner who will win a high-end Toshiba Qosimo laptop and the chance to see their idea included in the second part of the game – expected to launch in October 2008.

“We see hard disk drive technology as being a real market enabler,” explained Martin Larrson, Vice President and General Manager, Toshiba Europe Storage Device Division. “As a technology, it provides a simple solution for users to store tremendous amounts of data that can be used for numerous applications and a variety of devices. It provides a perfect blank canvas on which industrial designers can create the industrial systems of tomorrow.”

The game can be found at www.harddiskdriverevolution.com as of 1 June 2008.
