Traxsys to supply cursor control devices on Future Lynx and Merlin Capability

Market leader of specialist trackballs and man-machine interface systems, has been awarded a contract by AgustaWestland for 100 devices.

Traxsys Input Products will supply AgustaWestland with Cursor Control Devices for 70 Future Lynx and 30 Merlin Capability Sustainment (MCS) aircraft. This is a major UK MOD Contract, spread over the next ten years, with production deliveries scheduled to commence in early 2009.

The new generation technology supplied by Traxsys Input Products includes Cursor Control Devices (CCD) for the cockpits and cabins of the MCS aircraft. They will be used in conjunction with multi-function displays (MFD) to provide quick and simple access to aircraft information via the use of drop down menus. CCDs have many advantages compared with traditional systems. Not only do they reduce pilot workload and improve situational awareness, they are also cheaper and lighter, require less wiring and offer increased reliability and functionality.
Mark Butler, Sales and Marketing Manager for Traxsys Input Products, said: ‘This contract represents a major breakthrough for the Company and places us firmly at the forefront of design and manufacture. We are delighted to provide continued support to AgustaWestland’.
