Vanderlande Industries, supplier of automated baggage handling systems supplier, has further extended its proven VIBES™ controls solution with the VIBES™.SAC (Sort Allocation Computer) module. VIBES™.SAC offers a flexible, modular solution that provides end-to-end control of all physical baggage handling functions, with exceptionally easy implementation, configuration and everyday operation.

VIBES™.SAC serves as the link between the airport host computer system and the low-level controls at the equipment level (usually Industrial plcs), which have the task of actuating physical equipment like conveyors manufacturers and sorters. It ensures everyday operations run smoothly by controlling basic tasks such as sortation, chute allocation, Early Bag Store management and flight make-up based on flight planning, airlines, destinations and passenger classes, as well as maintaining the essential baggage identification and track & trace functions.

Designed for airports handling up to around 8,000 bags per hour, VIBES™.SAC can be integrated seamlessly with existing conveyor equipment and low level controls to provide a complete, cost effective baggage routing and sorting solution. The clear graphic user interface makes system interaction easy and intuitive at all levels, whether by an operator, supervisor or administrator.

Routine settings such as flight assignments, baggage routings and other operational parameters are usually recurring on a daily or weekly basis, but can be changed in moments when required, for example to deal with schedule changes. The system can be accessed from any PC connected to the network using a standard web browser, which means no special client professional software is needed. Status and historic data at individual baggage item or overall system levels can easily be accessed at any time thanks to the extensive reporting functions.

VIBES™.SAC is easily interfaced with the airport’s IT infrastructure, including information systems and supporting systems using the same information. These include the Departure Control System, the FIDS (Flight Information Display System) and BIDS (Baggage Information Display System), which keep passengers informed about flight status and schedules and baggage deliveries in the reclaim area.
