New Developments in Corrosion Testing Technology VLM GmbH

  • New Developments in Corrosion Testing Technology
Modern alternating climate test procedures introduced by the automobile industry set high demands concerning the efficiency of the equipment technology. Due to the material properties conventional all-plastic chambers, originally designed for salt spray tests, reach their limits. Hence, VLM, specialist for corrosion testing technology, developed a new test chamber design. The bottom, back and front side as well as the roof are made of stainless steel, coated with ECTFE, a fluorine polymer. Thus the heat produced by the panel heaters under the bottom of the chamber can be transferred fast and evenly into the chamber. The sides, and/or front walls consist of special polyethylene. This innovative design combined with advanced microprocessor controllers, resp. PLC characterizes the unique efficiency of the VLM corrosion testing cabinets. The various bench top as well as the chest type models cover not only the requirements of the conventional single tests, such as high humidity, Kesternich or salt spray tests. The comprehensive advantages of this innovative test technology particularly become effective with alternating climate tests with short cycle times. The just introduced multi-function line “High Temperature” allows even working temperatures of up to 80°C.
